Valmet to supply coated board machine for Graphic Packaging's mill in Kalamazoo, MI

ESPOO, Finland, Oct. 21, 2019 (Press Release) -Valmet will supply a coated board machine for Graphic Packaging International’s (GPI) mill in Kalamazoo, Michigan, in the United States. With this investment in the latest coated board technology, GPI is committing to sustainable packaging with exceptional product quality and cost competitiveness for producing coated recycled board (CRB) grades. The start-up of the machine is scheduled for the first half of 2022.

The order is included in Valmet's orders received of the third quarter 2019. The value of the order is not disclosed.

Scotland proposes to charge for single-use drinks cups

EDINBURGH, UK , Oct. 18, 2019 (Press Release) -New legislation to help tackle reliance on single-use items.

The Scottish Government will legislate for a charge to be applied on single-use drinks cups, Environment Secretary Roseanna Cunningham has confirmed.

Proposals will be included in the forthcoming Circular Economy Bill.

Should the legislation be passed, the level of the charge will be subject to consultation and approval by parliament.

India environmental tribunal slaps heavy fines on four paper company units for pollution, seek cuts in production

NEW DELHI, Oct. 18, 2019 (Local News) -The monitoring panel constituted by the National Green Tribunal (NGT) to check pollution in the Ghaggar river have questioned the working of the pollution control boards of Punjab and Haryana and imposed heavy fine on industries polluting the river.

The panel, headed by Justice Pritam Pal, has asked the Punjab Pollution Control Board (PPCB) to slap a fine of Rs 50 lakh each on four Patiala-based industries.
