Maryland lawmaker weighs removing ‘black liquor’ from state’s renewable energy portfolio after Verso mill shut

BALTIMORE, Aug. 20, 2019 (Local News) -A top-ranking lawmaker said Thursday he may introduce legislation next year to change part of the state’s renewable energy portfolio.

Speaking on a panel at the Maryland Association of Counties convention in Ocean City, House Economic Matters Chairman Dereck E. Davis (D-Prince George’s) said he is drafting legislation to remove the substance known as black liquor from the list of renewable energy sources able to receive state subsidies.

Klabin wins public bid for warehouse at Port of Paranaguá in Brazil

SAO PAULO, Aug. 13, 2019 (Press Release) -Klabin, Brazil’s largest packaging paper producer and exporter, won today (Aug. 13) the public bid for the warehouse at the Port of Paranaguá in Paraná. At the auction, held at the headquarters of B3 in São Paulo, the company obtained access to an area measuring 27,530 m2 for 25 years, with the possibility of renewal for another 45 years. Investments totaling around R$130 million are planned and operations are scheduled to start in 2022.
