Environmental advocacy groups pan union's report on Northern Pulp mill in Nova Scotia

HALIFAX, NS, Aug. 9, 2019 (Local News) -Environmental advocacy groups are coming out strongly against a report released Wednesday by Unifor claiming 2,700 jobs would be lost if the Northern Pulp paper mill closes.

Jill Graham-Scanlon, president of Friends of the Northumberland Strait, said they are taking those numbers with a grain of salt.

Graham-Scanlon said Northern Pulp has had quite a long time to get their problems sorted out, and it appears the province is no longer interested in giving the company more time to come up with a solution.

WestRock ramps up Porto Feliz box plant; to have grand opening in October

SAO PAULO, Aug. 6, 2019 (PPI Latin America) -WestRock’s CEO Steve Voorhees announced that the company’s new Porto Feliz box plant in Brazil is ramping up production. The company expects to have a grand opening in October, Vooches said during a conference call with investors.

“The Porto Feliz box plant is running very well. Our Valinhos box plant is largely down,” the CEO said, calling the Porto Feliz unit “WestRock's largest and most technically advanced box plant.”
