DS Smith receives UK Secretary of State's development consent for new CHP plant at its Kemsley Paper Mill in Kent

LONDON, July 19, 2019 (Press Release) -The Secretary of State, following on from a recommendation by the National Infrastructure Planning organisation, has granted development consent for a new Combined Heat and Power (CHP) plant at our Kemsley Paper Mill in Kent.

The new CHP plant, referred to as K4, is being developed in partnership with E.ON and will replace the existing CHP plant at Kemsley, helping to power the mills recycled paper making operations.

Scottish government mulls charge of 20-25p on disposable cups

EDINBURGH, Scotland, July 17, 2019 (Press Release) -Behaviour change to reduce single-use cup use.

Applying a charge of at least 20p to 25p on every disposable cup is one of the recommendations put forward by an expert panel to encourage more use of reusable alternatives.

Ministers will now consider the introduction of an additional charge to help cut down on the estimated 200 million single-use coffee cups used every year in Scotland.
