BillerudKorsnäs continues to develop commercialization of both small and large-scale energy storage in paper battery

SOLNA, Sweden, July 11, 2019 (Press Release) -BillerudKorsnäs continues the development of the paper battery and has during the spring completed the world's first production on a paper machine. The project is thus a step closer to the commercialisation of both small and large-scale energy storage in a paper battery.

In collaboration with researchers at Uppsala University, basic research has been developed to be able to use ordinary paper fibers for the manufacturing of batteries.

SYDNEY, July 10, 2019 (Sydney Morning Herald) -Cardboard, can and glass bottle maker Orora says it is attracting new business from customers who want to use less plastic in their packaging, as consumers become more conscious of its environmental impact.

The group's chief executive Nigel Garrard - who on Tuesday announced he will step down in September after more than 10 years the in top job - said the push for sustainable packaging was an opportunity for the company.

India’s National Green Tribunal fines Sitapur Paper Mills over water pollution

NEW DELHI, July 10, 2019 (Local News) -The National Green Tribunal has imposed an interim fine of Rs 10 lakh on a paper mill in Uttar Pradesh’s Sitapur district for causing pollution and extracting ground water illegally.

A bench headed by NGT chairperson Justice Adarsh Kumar Goel also directed a committee formed by it to assess the actual compensation within and asked the unit to deposit the amount with the Central Pollution Control Board, which will be used for restoration of the environment.

Solvay to increase hydrogen peroxide production to meet growing demand in Europe

Andritz to supply new recovery boiler to Ilim Group's facility in Ust-Ilimsk, Russia

GRAZ, Austria, July 10, 2019 (Press Release) -International technology group ANDRITZ has received an order from Russia’s Ilim Group to supply a new recovery boiler to its Ust-Ilimsk mill in Russia. The ANDRITZ HERB recovery boiler will have a black liquor combustion capacity of 1,950 tds/d, with start-up planned in the second half of 2021.

The order is part of the one billion US dollar “Big Ust-Ilimsk Project” that targets increasing pulp output at the mill by 130,000 tons per year and a finished product capacity increase from 550,000 to 1.5 million tons per year.
