Germany's Baden Board adds new “Grass Print” alternative virgin fibre to its recycled board portfolio

GERNSBACH, Germany, Feb. 5, 2019 (Press Release) -Baden Board is expanding its highly respected recycled board portfolio with the addition of the newly developed “Grass Print”.

Grass is an alternative virgin fibre that is collected in the near vicinity of the mill in Gernsbach, the raw material is grown to harvest several times per year and has a unique life cycle when compared to the production of 1 tonne of virgin wood pulp. When compared to virgin pulp large quantities of water can be saved and grass pulp requires up to 80% less energy to produce.

UK-based Waitrose & Partners launches recyclable cardboard grape punnets to reduce plastic from its shelves

BRACKNELL, UK , Jan. 24, 2019 (Press Release) -This week Waitrose & Partners takes another step forward in its bid to reduce plastic from its shelves with the introduction of recyclable cardboard grape punnets which will replace traditional plastic punnets for its Waitrose Duchy Organic and Waitrose 1 Sable grapes. Waitrose & Partners is the first UK supermarket to sell grapes packaged this way.

The switch to recyclable cardboard will save an initial 12 tonnes of plastic a year, with this figure set to rise with more grapes expected to make the change later in the year.

SAVANNAH, GA, Feb. 5, 2019 (Press Release) -At the Georgia Foreign Trade Conference, Georgia Ports Authority Executive Director Griff Lynch unveiled GPA's Big Berth/Big Ship program that will allow the Port of Savannah to simultaneously handle six 14,000 TEU vessels by 2024.

"No other single container terminal in North America has the ability to expand berth capacity at this rate," said Lynch. Currently, Savannah's Garden City Terminal is equipped to handle two of these vessels and by April of this year that number will increase to three.
