Sodra’s research foundation grants funds to develop effective measures against damage caused by spruce bark beetle

VAXJO, Sweden, Jan. 15, 2019 (Press Release) -Why does damage caused by spruce bark beetle increase during extremely hot and dry summers? How can growth in young and middle-aged forest be strengthened? These are a few of the questions for which researchers received grants to conduct further studies.

At its December 2018 meeting, Sodra’s Foundation for Research, Development and Education awarded SEK 5.4 million to various research projects. A total of SEK 12 million was awarded in 2018.

The Saturday edition of the paper contains a large number of supplements which are currently packaged in polythene to meet the demands of retailers and ensure they reach readers.

The Canadian Transportation Agency launches investigation into possible rail service issues in the Vancouver area

GATINEAU, QC, Jan. 14, 2019 (Press Release) -The Canadian Transportation Agency (CTA) today announced that it has initiated an investigation into possible freight rail service issues in the Vancouver area.

Under provisions added to the Canada Transportation Act in May 2018, the CTA can, of its own motion, launch such an investigation, provided the Minister of Transport agrees. The Minister's authorization was requested and provided Friday.

The CTA concluded that an investigation would be appropriate based on information received from shipper associations and other parties.
