3M and Georgia-Pacific face federal class action suit over chemical pollution in Michigan town

KALAMAZOO, MI, Nov. 2, 2018 (NPR) -Residents of a town near Kalamazoo join a federal class action lawsuit against 3M and Georgia-Pacific over PFAS contamination.

The lawsuit alleges that both companies played a role in the high levels of industrial chemicals that were discovered in the city of Parchment’s municipal water in July.

Nick Coulson, an attorney with Liddle & Dubin P.C. which is the firm that filed the lawsuit, says a group of Parchment residents told the firm about the issue.

The Recycling Association states Pringles packaging needs to be redesigned for proper recyclability

DAVENTRY, UK , Nov. 2, 2018 (Press Release) -The announcement that Kellogg's has introduced a Pringles container recycling scheme is a fudge that doesn't solve the issues, according to The Recycling Association.

Kellogg's last week said that it has joined forces with TerraCycle to introduce a recycling scheme for the containers in the UK that involves sending them in the post using a freepost label.

The resulting pellets are then turned into new products such as benches and fence posts.

European Council of Ministers calls for clear guidance the definition of single-use plastics

European Parliament adopts ban on single-use plastics from 2021

BRUSSELS, Nov. 1, 2018 (PPI Europe) -The members of the European Parliament (MEPs) have adopted a complete ban on single-use cutlery, cotton buds, straws and stirrers from 2021. These products represent over 70% of marine litter, they said.

The MEPs have also added oxo-plastics and certain polystyrenes to the draft, such as bags or packaging and fast-food containers made of expanded polystyrene.
