In this new international initiative, the port authorities of Hamburg, Barcelona, Rotterdam, Los Angeles, Long Beach, Vancouver and Antwerp will be joining forces and working together on a number of projects that address the issue of global warming.

The international collaboration was announced today during the opening session of the Global Climate Action Summit in San Francisco.

BRUSSELS, Sept. 24, 2018 (Press Release) -Last 13th September, the C40 network launched the declaration ‘Advancing towards Zero Waste’ at the Global Climate Action Summit in San Francisco. 25 cities and regions from the global North have already signed, hence committing to reduce 15% of their waste generation, to halve landfilling and incineration by 2030 with regards to 2015, as well as to recycle 70% of their waste.

Marked recovery in container volumes at the Port of Gothenburg

During the first six months of this year, container volumes at the Port of Gothenburg rose by 19 per cent, from 318,000 to 378,000 TEUs. The figure for the previous year was historically weak due to the labour dispute that at the time had a significant impact on customers’ willingness to use the port. The number of cars and intra-European ro-ro units shipped increased by 10 and 4% respectively, whilst the energy segment fell by 3%.

Valmet to replace PM 4 winder with new winding technology and surrounding equipment at Papier- u. Kartonfabrik Varel's facility in Germany

ESPOO, Finland, Sept. 24, 2018 (Press Release) -Valmet will supply new winding technology and surrounding equipment for Papier- u. Kartonfabrik Varel GmbH & Co. KG in Germany. The existing winder will be replaced with this new winder to meet the increasing line production of paper machine PM4. The start-up is scheduled for the beginning of 2020.

The order is included in Valmet's third quarter of 2018 orders received. The value of the order will not be disclosed. The total value of an order of this type is typically around EUR 5-10 million.
