TANANGER, Norway , Sept. 25, 2018 (Press Release) -The LNG company Skangas and Metsä Tissue Corporation have entered into an agreement on the supply of liquefied natural gas (LNG) to the Mänttä tissue paper mill for production process use. At the mill in Mänttä, Finland, LNG will replace liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) in the paper drying process. The fuel switch from LPG to LNG will improve competitiveness and cut the company’s carbon dioxide emissions.

UK-based retailer Co-op bans single-use plastics and unveils compostable carrier bags

MANCHESTER, UK, Sept. 22, 2018 (Press Release) -Today (Saturday 22 September 2018), the Co-op announced an end to single-use plastic. It will see around 60 million plastic carrier bags removed in a phased rollout and replaced with an environmentally-friendly alternative. The move is part of a new hard-hitting ethical strategy to be launched later this week by the Co-op, which will tackle plastic pollution as well as food waste, healthy eating, saving energy and trading fairly.

NOTTINGHAM, UK, Sept. 25, 2018 (Press Release) -Coffee cups across the UK will be saved from landfill and commercially recycled into paper, with the introduction of Detpak’s RecycleMe system.

Detpak has aligned with industry partner Shredall Ltd in the UK to collect, sort and recycle the cups as part of an existing national collection system in the United Kingdom.

In a UK first, Shredall will also be providing a collection service and recycling commitment for RecycleMe coffee cup lids.

Canfor Pulp extends maintenance outage at Northwood Pulp mill in BC to 70-80 days and 60,000-70,000 tonnes

VANCOUVER, BC, Sept. 24, 2018 (CNW) -Canfor Pulp Products Inc. announced today that it will extend its scheduled maintenance outage on one production line at its Northwood Northern Bleached Softwood Kraft ("NBSK") Pulp mill located in Prince George, British Columbia ("BC").  The outage is to enable necessary tube replacements to its No. 5 recovery boiler to rectify damage discovered during routine preventative maintenance inspections.
