European Commission welcomes ambitious political agreement on further renewable energy development in the EU

STRASBOURG, France , June 14, 2018 (Press Release) -An ambitious political agreement on increasing renewable energy use in Europe was reached today between negotiators from the Commission, the European Parliament and the Council. Today's deal means that two out of the 8 legislative proposals in the Clean Energy for All Europeans package (adopted by the European Commission on 30 November 2016) have been already agreed by the co-legislators. On 14 May, the first element of the package, the Energy Performance in Buildings Directive, was adopted.

ROANOKE, VA , June 13, 2018 (Roanoke Times ) -A Covington plant that makes products used to control pollution from gasoline-powered vehicles has been cited by state regulators for generating its own pollution.

Ingevity Virginia Corp. agreed to pay a fine of $43,398 as part of a recent agreement with the Virginia Department of Environmental Quality.

The penalty came after emissions from smoke stacks exceeded levels allowed by a state permit granted to the facility.
