SCA's Ortviken paper mill in Sweden reduces carbon emissions from fossil fuels by 60%

SUNDSVALL, Sweden, May 24, 2018 (Press Release) -SCA is aiming to become completely fossil free. The Ortviken paper mill has taken a major step in the right direction and last year reported the lowest level ever of emissions from fossil fuels.

In conjunction with BioCoop, Ortviken invested in a new combustion unit which made it possible to replace oil and LPG with wood powder. In 2012, Ortviken emitted 43,000 tonnes of carbon dioxide, a figure that dropped to 17,000 tonnes in 2017.

UK-based supermarket Tesco to remove hard to recycle materials from its packaging

SÖDERHAMN, Sweden, May 24, 2018 (Press Release) -Preem and RenFuel are assessing, in collaboration with Rottneros, the construction of the world’s first lignin plant for biofuels, at the pulp mill in Vallvik, Söderhamn. Russia’s MAG set to launch major MRF in Nizhny Novgorod

BRUSSELS, May 24, 2018 (PPI Europe) -Russia’s MAG Group is set to launch operation of a large materials recovery facility (MRF) in Nizhny Novgorod. The facility, which is being supplied by Bollegraaf Recycling Solutions, held test runs on May 18 and is scheduled to start regular operations tomorrow. It will be able to process some 60 tonnes of solid waste per hour. According to local media reports, the project cost some Rouble 1.2 billion ($19.3 million).
