Ohio EPA to discuss draft air permit-to-install modification for Glatfelter's Chillicothe facility

COLUMBUS, OH, Nov. 28, 2016 (Press Release) -Ohio EPA will hold a public meeting to discuss a draft air permit-to-install modification for P.H. Glatfelter Company – Chillicothe. The company is located at 232 E. 8th St. The hearing will take place at 6 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 6, 2016, in the OU-Chillicothe auditorium, 101 University Drive, Chillicothe.

The draft permit would affect three of the company’s boilers. The company has requested to convert two of the boilers to primarily use natural gas and to add additional pollution control equipment to the third.

NANJING, China, Nov. 29, 2016 (Xinhua news) -A Chinese archaeologist has announced new findings about an ancient scrap of paper, likely to be evidence of the earliest on record, dating 250 years before Cai Lun invented paper-making technology in China.

The piece, about five centimeters long and two centimeters wide, was unearthed as early as 1986 in Fangmatan, an archeological site near Tianshui City in northwest China's Gansu Province.

Chemours to shut Niagara Falls, NY, chemical plant after no buyer emerges

BUFFALO, NY, Nov. 29, 2016 (Buffalo News) -Nearly a year ago, Chemours delivered unwelcome news to the region: The chemical company would close its Niagara Falls plant by the end of 2016, eliminating about 200 jobs.

No buyer stepped forward to keep the former DuPont operation running, and Chemours halted production of reactive metals at the plant at the end of September.
