VANCOUVER, BC, March 18, 2014 (Press Release) -Voith Corporation and Canfor Pulp have entered into a strategic technical cooperation whereby Canfor Pulp will exclusively supply softwood NBSK to be used in the pilot paper machine at Voith's Sao Paulo Tissue Innovation Center. Both parties consider this agreement to be a significant strategic opportunity.

"We are delighted to enter into this cooperation with Canfor Pulp, whose fibres are renowned worldwide for superior strength and quality," said Thomas Scherb, General Manager, Innovation Centre Sao Paulo, Voith Paper. "Running these uniquely fine and flexible long fibres on our new ATMOS and NipcoFlex T technologies we have already identified significant quality and cost improvements for our customers."

"We are very excited by the possibilities this cooperation with Voith offers Canfor Pulp. Our agreement further enables the development of the technical value proposition for our premium NBSK in tissue and related products," said Sean Curran, Vice President, Sales and Marketing, Canfor Pulp. "The growing market demand for superior strength and softness products coupled to production cost management confirms that the leading edge technologies developed and piloted by the Voith tissue group are the perfect technical match for our fibres."

The Voith Tissue Innovation Center pilot machine was entirely rebuilt in 2011 in order to accommodate Voith's latest tissue machine technologies and to increase the machine speed. Today it is the most technologically-advanced tissue R&D center in the world. Canfor Pulp operates an Innovation Centre which maintains a global network of partnerships through its Open Innovation Program. The cooperation, which commenced in 2013, is part of Voith Paper and Canfor Pulp's ongoing commitment to innovation, world leading technical development and superior customer support.
