Finnish startup Paptic to invest in paper machine

ESPOO, Finland, Feb. 27, 2017 (Press Release) -Finnish startup company Paptic Ltd is planning paper machine investment to upscale PAPTIC patented technology and material production. The demand for PAPTIC material on the market allows for the company's quick transition to industrial-scale production. Currently Paptic is negotiating the financing of the investment with a number of actors. The investment is scheduled to begin in 2018 and its impact on employment will be more than 30 people.

LONDON, Feb. 23, 2017 (Press Release) -Jaguar Land Rover challenged DS Smith to develop a fully kitted and unitised Multi-Pack containing up to 5 or 7 individual automotive bumpers and stackable up to 12 packs high. It had to be easily assembled and allow individual bumpers to be delivered to dealers by courier.

We love a challenge and it turns out the WorldStar packaging awards do too because they awarded DS Smith a 2017 WorldStar Award (the most prestigious packaging awards) in the Transit pack category.

70,000 tonne/yr TM 6 starts up at Hayat Kimya's mill in Egypt

ESPOO, Finland, Feb. 27, 2017 (Press Release) -Hayat Kimya's Tissue Machine (TM6) started up at the company's new mill in Egypt in mid-January. It marked sixth successful start-up based on the same team from Valmet and Hayat Kimya working together in cooperation. Valmet has previously installed five new machines and provided an extensive rebuild of Hayat's TM1 in Izmit, in Turkey. The new line in Egypt will add 70.000 tons of high quality tissue to the company's current production of facial, toilet and towel tissue. 

AWPPW Local 675 CPU resumes negotiations with Ingevity for new labor agreement at its special chemicals plant in Covington, VA

COVINGTON, VA, Feb. 24, 2017 (PRNewswire) -Association of Western Pulp and Paper Workers (AWPPW) Local 675 CPU is resuming negotiations with Ingevity Corporation for a new Labor Agreement at the Company's Covington, Virginia Special Chemicals plant the week of February 27, 2017.

The Union rejected the Company's last offer by a 98% no vote of the membership, which took place December of 2016.

Irving Pulp and Paper's illegal dumping trial set for late October in Nova Scotia

SAINT JOHN, NB, Feb. 24, 2017 (CBC) -Six weeks have been set aside for Irving Pulp and Paper's trial on 15 counts of dumping a harmful substance into the St. John River at Saint John.

The company has pleaded not guilty to violating the federal Fisheries Act at its Reversing Falls Mill over a two-year period from June 2014 through August 2016.

In each case, the mill is alleged to have deposited a harmful substance in waters frequented by fish.
